Bring your own bagels and coffee and call this a brunch! Eitan Freedenberg will discuss higher education in prison in the era of mass incarceration, focusing on local and statewide efforts to expand educational opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated scholars.

Eitan is the assistant director of the Rochester Education Justice Initiative, the University of Rochester’s prison education program. He also recently completed his doctorate in visual and cultural studies at the University of Rochester, with a dissertation on early twentieth-century American architecture. Eitan recommends watching College Behind Bars, a recent PBS documentary produced by Ken Burns, in advance of the brunch discussion.
