From 1944 to 1946, 1000 Jewish refugees were housed in an old army base in Oswego, NY named Fort Ontario. Today it is a museum known as Safe Haven Museum and Education Center.
Hear from two former inhabitants of Fort Ontario, Gloria Fredkove and Jack Bass, who were only children when they arrived in America as refugees and the perspectives of Oswego residents to Fort Ontario from Linda Shapiro Weinstein, who grew up in Oswego while her father served as Mayor.
