Gabriela Kohen, explores the trans-generational transmission of trauma over five generations in her family. Displaced from Poland to Argentina and finally, Brooklyn, Ms. Kohen finds herself growing up Jewish and Latina in New York City. She portrays over twenty characters in this black comedy set among the 1970’s disco scene, Argentina’s tango halls, and the 1940’s Warsaw ghetto, to name a few.
New York Magazine calls it, “A loving yet unflinching family portrait… Astonishing subtlety of gesture, expression and accent…an extraordinarily efficient and moving hour of entertainment”
