Josie Leit is a first-year student at the University of Vermont. She is majoring in neuroscience and is currently working in a palliative neuro-oncology lab. Josie is and has been an active member of the Jewish community. In high school, she was the president of Rochester’s BBYO chapter, started a Jewish Cultural Club at her school, and completed an internship with the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester.

A turning point in Josie’s journey with Judaism was the Journey For Identity trip. It forever changed how she saw and interpreted the world as a Jew. And so, after the tragic events of October 7th, 2023, Josie decided that she would champion as best she could for the Jewish, Israeli, and Zionist communities. She went to Israel in January, with the Maccabee Task Force, to listen to the Israeli people and to help them in any way she could. We look forward to hearing her share the unique perspective of being Jewish on campus and her important efforts in Israel.
