Overall Contributions Increase in '09-10

The Rochester Jewish community – known for its generosity – continues to provide for the programs supported by the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester. Despite feeling the economic crunch, as in most communities, $4,197,734 was raised through the annual UJA Federation Campaign in 2009-10.

The Jewish Federations support JDC's Ariel Job Centers in Riga, Latvia and Tallinn, Estonia, which battle rising unemployment and poverty among Jews in the Baltics. The centers, based on a pioneering model that continues to help Argentina’s Jews recover in the wake of that country’s economic crisis, provide classes and training on job hunting, interviewing, resume-building and computer skills.
