Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education: Nominate Now

The Rochester Jewish community once again will participate in the Grinspoon Awards for Excellence in Jewish Education, thanks to the generosity of Mona Kolko and Helen Hecker. These awards acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Jewish educators in our community, provide a forum to celebrate their accomplishments, and connect the Rochester Jewish community to the larger world of Jewish education in North America.

Please note a few important changes in process and procedure from past years:

  • Colleagues, parents, students or supervisors may now nominate an educator.  In past it was only the supervisor, but now, anyone can participate in the nomination process.
  • This year’s award not only focuses on excellence in Jewish education but also on innovation in the classroom that creates a lasting impact on the lives of our children.  Has the nominated Jewish educator engaged his/her learners in new and exciting ways such that a change has occurred in the learning environment and/or in the manner that the students learn and engage with content and with one another?

Please consider nominating an educator for our local Jan Katz/Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge excellence in our community. The local winner will then be considered for the larger North American award as well.

To nominate an educator, download this Application Kit.  All forms must be completed by Friday, March 28th and sent electronically to Rachel Kest at rkest@jewishrochester.org

A local selection committee will convene to choose a local winner. Once a local winner is determined, the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester will submit that individual's applicationto the Grinspoon Foundation for the North American winner selection process.
