The Rochester UJA Federation Campaign

Making a world of difference.
Welcome to the world of Jewish Federation where the values of compassion, charity, generosity and responsibility inspire us to improve the quality of life for people in Rochester, in Israel and in over 70 countries every day.  Whether caring for people in need or nurturing and sustaining Jewish identity for future generations, this is where our community comes together as one.

Learn more about the Rochester Federation and what we support. Our overseas service partners, the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Joint Distribution Committee, carry out our mandate to help Jews wherever they are in need worldwide.

From cutting edge programming like the PJ Library and the Rochester Jewish Coalition for Literacy, to our support of five local agencies, programs for synagogue youth and interfaith initiatives for the entire community, the Rochester Federation plays a leading role in advancing the agenda for a diverse peoplehood.

In Israel, our Federation supplies tens of thousands of dollars to support PACT (Parents and Children Together), ensuring possibilities for several hundred children, ages 0-6, of Ethiopian parentage. In the former Soviet Union and for remnant Jewish populations worldwide, the Federation movement is on the ground to combat hunger, provide heating fuel and vital medical care. We help to build Jewish life around the globe.

A Campaign for All Generations

...For over 300 Ethiopian Israeli children from birth through age 6 in the impoverished community of Lod Israel, Rochester’s support of the PACT (Parents and Children Together) program means that these young Israelis receive critical help with language and enrichment.

...Some 10,000 youth in 44 Jewish day schools and 2,000 in 90 Sunday schools in the former Soviet Union receive a Jewish education because of Federation support. In Rochester, the Campaign provides substantial support for
Hillel Community Day School.

...Hundreds of Jewish families in Rochester participate in our family programs and celebrations. The Campaign also supports youth groups at area synagogues and provides programming – in civics and the environment - for teens.

...The Campaign provides critical support to Hillel at SUNY Geneseo and RIT, which offers vital Jewish connections and programming for college students.

...Our thriving partnership with the community of Modi’in Israel has engaged a wide segment of Jewish Rochester. Children benefit from the Education Bridge pairing Rochester and Modi’in religious school classrooms. Teens from both communities have experienced the unique, life-changing “Journey for Identity” from Rochester to Poland and Israel.

...We provide underwriting support for Passport Senior Services. Passport, with Jewish Family Service as the lead agency, works with Jewish Senior Life and the JCC to help our seniors live independently for as long as possible.
