"Cool Jew" - The Ultimate Event for Every Woman in the Tribe!

This year, Women's Philanthropy presents its 19th annual opportunity to celebrate the success and power of a woman's gift! Join us on Tuesday, October 27th at THE MAIN EVENT, this year presenting special guest Lisa Klug, award-winning journalist and author of "Cool Jew: The Ultimate Guide for Every Member of the Tribe."

THE MAIN EVENT will take place at Temple Beth El, 139 South Winton Road beginning with a 6:15 PM reception followed by 7:00 PM dinner and program. Cost for the evening is $40 per person. During the evening each woman will have the opportunity to make a personal pledge to the 2010 UJA Federation Campaign; a minimum gift of $200 is suggested.

Lisa Alcalay Klug is an award-winning journalist and the author of the bestselling book, “Cool Jew: The Ultimate Guide for Every Member of the Tribe” (Andrews McMeel, September 2008). The daughter of an Ashkenazi Holocaust survivor and the descendant of a Sephardic chief rabbi of Sarajevo, Lisa's work has appeared in a wide range of mainstream and Jewish publications, including the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, Moment, Forward, Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles and many others. She was recently named Erma Bombeck Humor Writer of the Month.

Lisa is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UC Berkeley with a bachelors in Middle Eastern Studies and a masters in journalism. She has also completed post-graduate research and studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

We will also share a few moments with Tikva Getanach, Education Liaison, PACT Program (Parents and Children Together), of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) in Lod Israel; and Gail Norry, member of the United Jewish Communities Board of Trustees and National Women's Philanthropy board; Co-chair of the 2008 International Lion of Judah Conference; and past Co-chair of the United Jewish Communities National Young Leadership Cabinet.

THE MAIN EVENT is co-chaired by Terri Bobry and Deborah Gordon. The Women's Financial Resource Development Chair is Lorraine P. Wolch. Women's Philanthropy Co-presidents are Harriette Howitt and Hannah Rosenblatt.
