Donor Advised Fund

Flexible Planned Lifetime Giving

Collage of people as puzzles pieces A Donor Advised Fund is a fund you establish with The Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester from which you can recommend charitable distributions to almost any non-profit institution of your choosing. You can distribute the income and much of the principal, and can keep adding to the fund.

Here’s How It Works:

  • You make a gift (minimum $5,000) of cash, stock, bonds or other property to The Foundation.
  • You receive a charitable deduction for the full value of the gift, and pay no capital gains tax if the gift is made with appreciated property.
  • You retain the right to recommend charitable gifts from the fund (both principal and income) to Jewish and non-Jewish charities.
  • The Foundation does all of the record keeping, check writing, mailing and confirms your account transactions in writing.
