Unsung Hero of the Holocaust, April 27

As the Portuguese Consul-General in Bordeaux, France, Aristides de Sousa Mendes helped thousands of refugees escape from Nazi-occupied France by issuing visas to neutral Portugal, against the explicit orders of his government.

At the Center for Holocaust Awareness and Information's annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance program on April 27th, a grandson of Aristides de Sousa Mendes and a descendent of his visa recipients will speak about how one person can “save a world.”

Hear Guiora on "Legitimate Self-Defense," April 28

The final speaker in "Israel 2014: The Series" will discuss "Defining an Effective National Security Strategy" on Monday, April 28th. Amos Guiora is Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Center for Global Justice at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, the University of Utah. Guiora has published extensively both in the U.S. and Europe on issues related to national security, limits of interrogation, religion and terrorism, and the limits of power, multiculturalism and human rights.
